Knits4Kids is a blog-based database of needlecraft patterns for baby, toddler, and child. The site can be used free of charge once you have registered. In the future, however, we plan to introduce a fee for passive users (i.e., those not contributing to the blog). The patterns have been collected from various popular sites, blogs and forums and have been re-classified for better search. Note that this database does not copy the entire contents from other sites but rather extracts short descriptions and reveals the links to the original sources. Therefore, we do not bear responsibility for the linked sources. Some of the prominent features of this blog are listed below.

Multilingual Support

Our blog is available in the following languages: English, German, and Russian, with English being the default language. Each of the supported languages has its own collection of patterns. To check the contents in another language, simply navigate to the category or tag of interest and then use the language switcher.

The pattern database itself contains instructions in many other languages besides the ones mentioned above. This patterns are indexed in the English part of the database. Use advanced search to find patterns in a specific language.

Structure and order

The entire content is strictly organized to improve searching and browsing. Each post corresponds to a single pattern or a set of related patterns. A hierarchy of categories is used to classify each pattern. Tagging helps to describe important characteristics of the pattern. The blog is moderated to ensure that the database remains clean and ordered.

Rating

Registered uses are encouraged to rate the patterns. These ratings are used for sorting the search results by popularity.

Controlled contribution

Anyone can contribute either by sending new patterns to the blog’s administrator or by requesting a contributor’s account. The latter enables direct posting into the blog. The administrator introduces the contributor to the rules of posting and checks all submitted posts for correctness.
